Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram on Friday inaugurated a three-day Bizu Festival at Nabinchara in Unakoti district.
The idea behind organising the festival is to promote the culture and tradition of Chakma community. Inaugurating the festival, Minister Oram said that 15 new model schools will be set up in the district.
He said a total of 25 crore will be sanctioned for this. The age-old tradition and diverse culture of the Chakma community have been put up for display in this festival.
People from different states of Northeast including Assam, Sikkim, Manipur and Nagaland have attended the festival.
Speaking at the event, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said that he is overwhelmed to attend the programme.
