The government will brief the Parliament on the tragic helicopter crash of chief of defence staff (CDS) Bipin Rawat on Thursday. 

The government will issue statement on the helicopter crash in both the Houses of the Parliament on Thursday. 

Although defence minister Rajnath Singh was expected to brief the Parliament on the incident on Wednesday, the issuing of statement has been postponed till Thursday.

Meanwhile, Rajnath Singh has met the family members of CDS General Bipin Rawat in New Delhi.

CDS General Bipin Rawat was among the 14 people who were on-board the IAF helicopter that crashed between Coimbatore and Sulur in Tamil Nadu.

As many as 11 bodies have been recovered by the search and rescue teams from the CDS Bipin Rawat helicopter crash site. 

Those onboard included CDS General Bipin Rawat, his wife Madhulika Rawat, Brigadier LS Lidder, Lieutenant Colonel Harjinder Singh, Naik Gursewak Singh, Naik Jitendra Kr, Lieutenant Naik Vivek Kumar, Lieutenant Naik B Sai Teja and Havildar Satpal. 

Defence minister Rajnath Singh is monitoring the situation following crash of IAF chopper carrying CDS Bipin Rawat and others.

Air Force chief Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari has also dashed to Sulur airbase to take stock of the ground situation at the helicopter crash.
