A biker in Chandigarh’s sector 10 has alleged molested a senior woman diplomat of the British Deputy High Commission.

Sources said the incident took place around 5.45 am on Wednesday when the diplomat was out on her morning walk.

On the basis of her complaint, the Chandigarh Police has registered a molestation case against an unidentified person under section 354A of the IPC at police station sector 3.

The woman, who lives in sector 9, alleged in her complaint that she was heading to Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association complex located in sector-10 on foot when the accused came close to her.

The British diplomat, a resident of the UK, told the police that the accused, coming from the rear side, hit her on the back.

She shouted at him and also ran after him, but the biker managed to speed away.

“I left my house in Sector 9 on foot at 5:34 am on Wednesday morning to head to Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association in sector-10 C, opposite DAV College. I crossed the Janmarg and went past the petrol station on the right-hand side of the road at the roundabout just before the Mount View Hotel.

“I turned left to the CLTA and was walking past residential houses when a motorcycle came up behind me. He hit me hard with his hand or something on my back. I shouted at him and ran after him but he drove away without stopping,” the diplomat said in the complaint.

A British Deputy High Commission spokesperson confirmed that an official complaint has already been lodged with the Chandigarh Police and the investigation is underway.

The police have been scanning CCTV footage to nab the accused.
