Banking services in India are likely to sustain a massive jolt as a two-day nationwide banks strike has been announced.
The banks strike has been called by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) as a protest against government’s proposed Bill for privatisation of two public sector banks.
The two-day banks strike will be observed on December 16 and December 17.
Meanwhile, the All India Bank Officers Confederation (AIBOC) has threatened to launch other agitational programmes if the government fails to drop its idea of bank privatisation.

Notably, union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman had earlier stated that at least two public sector banks will be privatised.
She made this announcement in her budget speech earlier this year.
