The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to power both at the Centre and the State with the slogan of brining ‘change’.  But the public has failed to see any major change.

In such a situation, the conditions of the roads in Dima Hasao district have become worst.

But despite that Minister Parimal Suklabaidya’s Public Works Department (PWD) has maintained stoic silence due to which the common people have been compelled to go for hunger strike seeking maintenance and repair of roads.

The condition of entire KK Road under the Maibang Sub-division of Dima Hasao district has become worst.

Currently, no vehicle has been able to move through the road.

In protest against such situation, some social activists of the district under the leadership of distinguished personality of Dima Hasao and the founder President of Jadikhe Naisho Hosom, Bahim Chandra Langthasa, will start hunger strike from April 30, 2018.

Apart from repair of roads, the protestors will also demand for electricity connection in the remote villages and seek service of Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) bus in between Haflong and Khepre.

While talking to Northeast Now, Bahim Chandra Langthasa said that it has been decided to launch a hunger strike at Kalachand’s Bachabari Tinali under his leadership which would be participated by a number of social activists.

Langthasa said, “I submitted a letter to Maibang Sub-divisional Magistrate today informing him about our hunger strike.”

He also said in the Langting-Dibu area, there are four Council constituencies under the NC Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC).

“The KK Road is the only road for all these four constituencies. But it is unfortunate that no vehicle can move on this road. Besides there is also no electricity connection in the area,” said Langthasa.

He further said, “Moreover, there is also no government public transport service. So, we will stage hunger strike from April 30, 2018 demanding repair of the highway, electricity connection in the area and ASTC bus service in between Haflong and Khepre.”
