Battling a severe metabolic disorder for last eight months, one-year-old Snigdharag Bhuyan, breathed his last on Tuesday night at around 1 am at a city hospital.
Snigdharag was admitted to city based Pratiksha Hospital on March 10 after he complained of breathing trouble.
In September 3 last year, Assam police created a green corridor for the first time in Guwahati to take Snigdharag from a private hospital to the Guwahati airport.
Snigdharag, who was then undergoing treatment at Pratiksha Hospital, was taken to the airport through the green corridor to be flown to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi.
“The baby was suffering from a severe metabolic disorder. He has difficulty in breathing. He was admitted in the IUC at our hospital on March 10,” said a doctor of Pratiksha Hospital.
The doctor said that his condition had deteriorated and he was put on ventilator for oxygen support but there was no sign of improvement.
Snigdharag body was taken to his native place Sootia in Sonitpur district on Tuesday morning and his last rites were performed there.
