Meanwhile, Peren district administration has promulgated Criminal Procedure Section 144 in Peren town with effect from February 27 and in Jalukie town and Samziuram village under Peren Assembly constituency from March 1.

Peren DC and DEO Smita Sarangi, in an order, on Thursday said the prohibitory order has been following reports that there are chances of post-poll violence in and around Peren which could damage the peace and tranquility in the area.

Nagaland Chief Minister TR Zeliang of Naga People’s Front (NPF) is in straight contest with Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) candidate Iherie Ndang in Peren Assembly constituency.

As per the order, assembly of five or more persons, carrying of arms, stones, lathis, etc. and vehicles with more than five persons, including driver, have been prohibited. The prohibitory order will remain in force till March 3, the day of counting of votes.
