Assam’s Lovlina enters quarters of World Women’s Boxing Championships

Assam boxer Lovlina Borgohain on Wednesday defeated Oumayma Belahbib of Morocco to enter the quarter finals of the World Women’s Boxing Championships 2019 in Russia.

After a 5-0 win against the Moroccan boxer, Borgohain will now be facing Yuliya Apanasovich of Belarus in the quarterfinals.

Union minister of state (independent charge) for youth affairs and sports Kiren Rijiju congratulated Borgohain for entering the quarterfinals of the international boxing competition.

Another boxer of Assam Jamuna Boro defeated Algerian boxer Ouidad Sfouh 5-0 to enter the quarter finals of the World Women’s Boxing Championships 2019.

The other Indian boxers to participate in the Women’s World Boxing Championships 2019 include Manju Rani, Mary Kom, Neeraj, Sarita Devi, Manju Bamboriya, Nandini, Kavita Chahal and Saweety Boora.
