Assam boxer Jamuna Boro will be the first Indian competitor inWomen’s World Boxing Championships 2019 in Russia on Friday.

Competing in the 54 kg batnam category, Jamuna will face Erdenedalai Michidmaa of Mongolia.

Jamuna recently bagged the gold medal at the 2nd India Open Boxing Tournament in Guwahati by defeating Manipuri boxer Y Sandhyarani 5-0 in the finals of the 54 kg category.

The boxer also won a gold medal at the 23rd President’s Cup in Indonesia by defeating Italian boxer Giulia Lamagna 5-0 in the 54 kg category finals.

Jamuna had been bringing laurels to her home state with her splendid performance in various boxing competitions.

Apart from Jamuna, the other Indian boxers to participate in the Women’s WorldBoxing Championships 2019 include Manju Rani, Mary Kom, Jamuna Boro, Neeraj, Sarita Devi, Manju Bamboriya, Lovlina Borgohain, Nandini, Kavita Chahal and Saweety Boora.
