Assam’s Hima Das, who drew attention of all by emerging as the first Indian woman to be qualified for 400 metre race in the final of Commonwealth Games in April last, won another gold at the 58th National Inter State Senior Athletics Championship at Guwahati on Friday, this time in women’s 400 metre race.
Das won her first gold in woman’s 200 metre race at the 58th National Inter State Senior Athletics Championship on Wednesday.
In the final of 21st CWG held at Goldcoast in Australia, Das finished sixth in the women’s 400 metre race.
According to information, Das completed the women’s 400 metre race at Guwahati in 51.13 seconds.
Earlier, Das completed her 200 metre race at the athletics championship in the city in 23.10 seconds, which helped her book a ticket to the upcoming Asian Games to be held in Indonesia.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal who was present at the opening ceremony of the championship expressed hope that Assam’s pride Hima would bring more glory to the nation with her success in future sports events. He also pinned same hope for other budding sportspersons of the State as well.
It may be mentioned that Hima Das is also the brand ambassador of the 58th National Inter State Senior Athletics Championship.
Former sprint queen of India, PT Usha, who was present at the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex, Sarusajai, during a press conference held before the opening ceremony, showered praise on Hima Das, who was also present at the press meet.
Das hails from Dhing of Assam’s Nagaon district.
