For the first time in Assam, the Education Department of Assam on Wednesday effected online mutual transfer of 8550 assistant teachers both regular and contractual of elementary education.
Informing this, Assam Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday said that the process was started with the consent of all.

Stating that this is a first of its kind experiment in the State and it has been done to ensure social and cultural comforts of the teachers who have been serving in different parts of the State.
“In a first-of-its kind experiment and in order to ensure social and cultural comforts of teachers, we have effected online mutual transfers of 8550 assistant teachers (regular, contractual) of elementary education. This was done after taking consent of all,” State Education Minister Sarma stated on his Twitter handle on Wednesday.
Expressing his happiness to carry forward the reform brought to the education sector in Assam, Sarma tweeted, “I am happy to carry forward this basic reform and hope this will encourage teachers to give their best output.”

Claiming that the online transfer would end the red tapism in teachers’ transfer, Sarma tweeted, “The online transfer is a win-win for teachers and students. Also it does away with ad hocism and red tape in teachers’ transfers.”
It may be mentioned that the process for online transfer of teachers was started recently. The online application for mutual transfer was received from January 22, 2018 to midnight of February 7, 2018.
In this regard a notification was also issued and the government asked the intending teachers to submit their online application as per procedure laid down in the notification and user manual/ Instructional Manual which is available on the official website www.ssaassam.gov.in.
All the interested working teachers were requested to go through the notification and user manual/ Instructional Manual in detail before submission of the online application. It was clearly mentioned in the website that ‘No Offline Application will be accepted in this regard’.
