Guwahati: The spotlight is on Arun Garg, the young man who helped light the funeral pyre alongside Zubeen Gargโs sister Palmee Borthakur and family friend Rahul Gautam Sharma.
Arunโs trip is as heartwarming as it is inspiring.
Arun Sachani, from the Tea Tribe community in Doulbagan, Sivasagar, he idolised Zubeen from childhood.
Fate had him at Guwahati, where he became part of Zubeenโs household at Kahilipara, forming a bond that transcended mere friendship.
Arun grew close to Zubeen and his wife Garima.
In a gesture that reflected the singerโs boundless generosity and warmth, Zubeen gave Arun his surname, transforming him from Arun Sachani into Arun Garg, reports India TodayNE.
On Tuesday as Arun stood by the pyre, lighting the final flames with Palmee and Rahul Gautam Sharma, the message was clear.

Arun carried forward not just the ceremonial duty but also the essence of Zubeenโs life โ his compassion, his love for people, and his commitment to uplifting those around him. Arunโs presence was a poignant reminder of the human side of a man whose songs had already touched millions across Assam and the Northeast.
Arun Garg, once Arun Sachani, now stands as a living symbol of Zubeenโs legacy โ a legacy of love, kindness, and artistic brilliance that will continue to resonate in the hearts of Assam and beyond for generations to come.
Meanwhile, the Assam government has declared”that the ashes from the funeral pyre of legendary singer and cultural icon Zubeen Garg will be made available to organisations and individuals through an online application system,” India Today Ne writes.
