Guwahati: A Special Judge’s Court has granted bail to Zubeen Garg’s two personal security officers (PSO), Paresh Baishya and Nandeshwar Bora, in a disproportionate assets case registered by the Assam Chief Minister’s Special Vigilance Cell.
Baishya and Bora had been arrested in connection with the case. Their counsel argued before the court that the investigating police had failed to follow the prescribed rules and procedures during their arrest.
The defence submitted that the procedural lapses committed by the investigating police warranted bail, following which the court granted relief to both accused.
However, the two bodyguards will not be released from prison immediately as they are also in custody in connection with the case relating to Zubeen Garg’s death.
Baishya and Bora were arrested by the Assam Police’s CID on October 10 last year. Both are currently lodged in Mushalpur Jail in Baksa district.
The bail granted by the Special Judge’s Court is limited to the disproportionate assets case. They will continue to remain behind bars in connection with the Zubeen Garg death case.
