Youth trampled to death by wild elephants in Assam’s Golaghat

On Monday afternoon, one person was trampled to death by wild elephants at Govindpur Tea Estate of Moring in the district.

According to information, the youth had gone to the tea estate to click pictures of the herd of wild elephants roaming about in the tea garden.

While he was taking pictures, one of the pachyderms in the herd chased him and killed him on the spot.

The deceased has been identified as one Manas Barua.

Manas hailed from the No 5 Rongbong village of Numaligarh in Golaghat district.

Locals have said Manas Barua had gone to take pictures of the herd of wild elephants for some web page.

On the other hand, the Moringi Press Club while condoling the demise of Manas Barua under tragic circumstances testified he was not a designated journalist.
