Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has said that if he had the capacity, he would have appointed Hima Das and Lovlina Borgohain as deputy commissioners. 

โ€œIf I could, I would have appointed Hima Das and Lovlina Borgohain as deputy commissioners. But I am not entitled to do so,โ€ Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

CM Sarma made this comment while silencing those, who criticised the Assam Governmentโ€™s decision to appoint Hima Das as Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) earlier this year. 

โ€œIt is just nothing, compared to the sacrifices they (Hima Das and Lovlina Borgohain) have made to bring laurels for Assam,โ€ CM Sarma further said.

He added: โ€œWe have to secure their future by giving them suitable government jobs.โ€ 

The Assam Government is expected to appoint Lovlina Borgohain as a DSP. 

Lovlina Borgohain made India and Assam proud by winning a bronze medal at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics.
