Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has said that if he had the capacity, he would have appointed Hima Das and Lovlina Borgohain as deputy commissioners.
“If I could, I would have appointed Hima Das and Lovlina Borgohain as deputy commissioners. But I am not entitled to do so,” Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

CM Sarma made this comment while silencing those, who criticised the Assam Government’s decision to appoint Hima Das as Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) earlier this year.
“It is just nothing, compared to the sacrifices they (Hima Das and Lovlina Borgohain) have made to bring laurels for Assam,” CM Sarma further said.

He added: “We have to secure their future by giving them suitable government jobs.”
The Assam Government is expected to appoint Lovlina Borgohain as a DSP.
