Top Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who is on a 2-day tour of Assam, has said that the party will make its ‘guarantee’ of Rs 365 daily wage to tea workers of the State a reality.

“We will make our ‘guarantee’ of Rs 365 daily wage to Assam tea workers a reality,” Rahul Gandhi said.

Addressing a massive gathering of tea workers of the Dijoy Tea Estate in Chabua, Rahul Gandhi said that just like in every other Congress-ruled State, the party will fulfil its ‘guarantees’ in Assam also, if voted to power.

Rahul Gandhi said: “The Congress party has fulfilled its guarantees like waiving farmers’ loans immediately after assuming power in the States of Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.”

“In Assam also the Congress will ensure that the tea garden workers of the State receive daily wage of Rs 365 as soon as it assumes power,” Rahul Gandhi added.

Raising the daily wage of Assam tea workers up to Rs 365, is one of the ‘guarantees’ that the Congress has been promoting as part of its election campaign agenda for the Assembly polls in the State.

Prior to his address to the tea workers of Dinjoy Tea Estate, Rahul Gandhi interacted with college students at Lahowal in Dibrugarh district.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi arrived at Dibrugarh on Friday morning to campaign for the party for the ensuing Assam Assembly elections 2021.

This is the second visit of Rahul Gandhi to Assam ahead of the Assembly election to the State.

Three-phased Assembly elections in Assam will begin from March 27.
