Union minister of state (independent charge) of Youth Affairs and Sports Kiren Rijiju on Monday was in all praises for stylish left-handed batsman Yuvraj Singh who had announced his retirement from international cricket.

Apart from extending his best wishes to the cricketing icon, Rijiju stated that Yuvraj had been an excellent batsman, bowler and a fielder.

Rijiju stated on his official Twitter handle:

‘Dear Yuvraj Singh, you may have retired from the competitive cricket game but you will remain a cricketing icon for every Indian & millions across the globe. What a batsman, bowler & fielder you have been! We are proud of you. I extend my best wishes for your future endeavours!’

Millions of fans expressed their gratitude to Yuvraj through social media after he declared of stepping out of the cricketing world after 25 years.

Yuvraj tweeted, ‘After 25yrs in cricket Ive decided to move on. Cricket has given me everythin I have.ThankU 4being a part of this journey.This game taught me how to fight, how to fall,to dust off,to get up again n move forward. It has been a lovely journey. See you on the other side #SteppingOut.’

Yuvraj who was declared as the man of the tournament in the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup has played 304 ODIs, 40 Test and 58 T20 matches in his career.

He has scored a total a 1900 runs in Test, 8701 runs in ODIs and 1177 runs in T20s.

Moreover, the cricketing icon has taken a total of 9 wickets in Test, 111 in ODIs and 28 wickets in T20s.
