Assam chief secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna on Friday afternoon tweeted to announce about the lifting of weekend lockdown and night curfew.

During the last one month, Assam government had clamped lockdown on Saturday and Sunday to check the community spread of COVID19.

In addition to weekend lockdowns, night curfew from 9.30 pm to 5.30 am was clamped across Assam to ensure that people don’t move around too much and add to the COVID19 positive numbers.

However, the chief secretary cautioned every citizen of the state to remain extra cautious and adhere to COVID19 protocol strictly to keep everyone safe.

Numbers of COVID19 cases are growing leaps and bounds in Assam during the last few weeks. The total number of active cases till Thursday evening stands at 29,274.

With 3,054 new COVID-19 cases detected on Thursday, the overall coronavirus tally in Assam rose to 1,18,333.

The positivity rate of Assam now stands at 6.25 per cent, while 88,726 patients have been discharged from various hospitals.
