Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Tuesday attended the State Level Gyan Yatra, Kala Utsav and Band Competition, 2018 organised by Samagra Shiksha, Assam at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra.
Speaking at the programme he said, “Students are the future citizens of the country and the country cannot progress without intellectual and physical development of the students. Therefore, the society along with the government, must strive for scientifically identifying and developing the latent talents in the students for making them ideal citizens of the country.”

Saying that no one can achieve excellence in today’s age of science and technology without a competitive spirit, the chief minister said these events provide a platform to the students to exhibit their talents and inculcate a healthy competitive spirit among them.
He also urged the state level award winning schools in arts, culture, sports etc to strive for achieving success. Highlighting the state government’s various initiatives for development of the education sector, Sonowal said the programmes like ‘Gunotsav’ have been taken up by the government for brining holistic transformation in education system of the state.
Speaking on the occasion Education Minister Siddhartha Bhattacharya said that events like Kala Utsav have been initiated by the state government for facilitating overall growth of the students and providing them a platform to showcase their talents.
