Additional secretary, Department of Land Resources, Govenment  of India, Satyabrat Sahu reviewed the progress of works of Watershed Development projects under Prime Minister Krishi Sinchayee Yojna (Watershed Development Component) (WDC-PMKSY) in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh in a meeting held at the conference hall of the office of the deputy commissioner in Dibrugarh on Monday.

Watershed is a geo-hydrological unit of an area draining to a common outlet point.

It is recognized as an ideal unit for planning and development of land water and vegetation resources.

The meeting was attended by Sscientist (TE), DoLR , Dr C P Reddy , CEO, State Level Nodal Agency, WDC-PMKSY, Gurdeep Singh Panesar, Dibrugarh deputy commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha, district development commissioner,  Sanjoy Dutta, additional deputy commissioner, Dipu Kumar Deka, Soil Conservation and Revenue officials of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.

In the meeting, the additional secretary reviewed the progress of works of 372 Watershed Development projects under Prime Minister Krishi Sinchayee Yojna (Watershed Development Component) (WDC-PMKSY) in Assam and directed CEO, SLNA to complete all batch III and batch -IV projects before March, 2020.

Speaking about the importance of proper convergence between key departments like soil conservation, agriculture, fishery, animal husbandry and veterinary, irrigation departments for effective implementation of Prime Minister Krishi Sinchayee Yojna (Watershed Development Component) (WDC-PMKSY), additional secretary Satyabrat Sahu also stressed on effective  management and supervision at state and district level and asked the departments to work in a cohesive manner to enhance productivity and generate income through such convergence practices.

Later, he also reviewed the progress of digitization and computerization of land records in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh under Digital India Land Records Modernisation Programme (DILRMP) in the meeting with revenue officials from Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.

After detailed review, the Additional Secretary fixed June 2020 as the deadline for completion of establishment of all 153 Modern Record Rooms and also asked the officials concerned to complete digitization process of cadastral maps and integration of SROs with revenue offices within six months in Assam.

Issues related to poor internet connectivity in revenue offices, non-availability of maps were also discussed in the meeting. Secretary to Govt of Assam, Revenue and DM department, Asok Kumar Barman also attended the meeting.
