“Love to mankind is above all forms of love”.

When the young lovers of Assam on Wednesday seem to have remained busy in parks, restaurants, cinema complexes and shopping malls in the name of celebrating Valentine’s Day, the ‘day’ for  love, a section of youths in Mangaldai of Darrang district came up with a different idea of celebrating the day.

Unlike the other youths celebrating the day with their opposite genders, they preferred to mark the day with an effort to show love to the  mankind in real sense by voluntarily donating blood.

The group of youths under the banner of voluntary body Crystal Vision organized a blood donation camp in association with Mangaldai Civil Hospital Blood Bank authority at Youth Club, Mangaldai campus. A total of 35 young voluntary donors who donated their blood included NGO members, students of GNM Training School, Mangaldai, media persons and jawans of SSB, 37 Battalion and CRPF, D/155 Battalion.

On behalf of the organizers, young entrepreneur Mizanoor Rahman as well as  Harimon Deka, a leading voluntary blood donor and a college teacher by profession offered felicitation to  Pawan Kr Nath, the Secretary of the State level voluntary blood donors’ organization ‘Raktadata’ and a resident of Tezpur  with  a gamocha, a citation, etc. in recognition of his continuous effort to generate public awareness for voluntary blood donation across the State in recent times which has already recorded a encouraging response.

The felicitation function was also attended by Dr NK Beriya, Sub-Divisional Medical & Health Officer (SDM&HO), Darrang, Dr Daud Ali, Medical Officer in charge of Blood Bank, Swarna Lata Kalita, Principal, GNM Training School, Mangaldai and senior media persons Bhargab Kr Das and Ganesh Dutta respectively as guests.

Earlier, the day-long programme began with an awareness cycle rally throughout Mangaldai which was participated by around one hundred students of Mangaldai Govt Higher Secondary School among others.
