Union minister Rameswar Teli distributed the course completion certificates and appointment letters to the successful candidates of Skill Development Institute Guwahati (SDIG) at a ceremony in Guwahati.

The programme was organised at the Pipeline Headquarters of Oil India Limited, Guwahati.

Apart from Union minister of state for petroleum and natural gas and labour & employment Rameswar Teli, the programme was attended by Sushil Chandra Mishra, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Oil India Limited (OIL), senior officials of OIL and the faculty & trainees of Skill Development Institute Guwahati.

The programme was organised to commemorate the 75 glorious years since India attained independence as a part of “Azadi Ki Amrit Utsav” initiative.

While congratulating the successful trainees of SDIG, Union minister Teli said it would play a stellar role in transforming the lives of the trainees and their families.

He lauded the efforts of the SDIG and OIL officials as well as the training faculty and appreciated the fact that around 1,000 youths of the Northeast are imparted skills in 16 trades in SDIG annually.

He said, “Under the visionary leadership of our Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the central government has laid great stress on the skill development of our youth so that they become ‘Atma Nirbhar’ and contribute to
nation-building.”

“The successes of the passed-out youths shall also inspire other youths of our region to take up skill development courses,” Union minister Teli said.

A total of 56 trainees in the electrician and welding trades have successfully completed the course and all of them have got employment opportunities in prestigious organisations in Gujarat.

Also, 30 trainees in the health sector and 15 trainees in the hospitality sector have attained employment in local hospitals and hotels in Assam.

The CMD of Sushil Chandra Mishra, Oil India Limited, spoke about the various initiatives of OIL on the Corporate Social Responsibility arena and said OIL is always at the forefront in developing the youth of the region on all fronts.

Executive Director (Human Resources), OIL, Ashok Das also addressed the gathering and spoke about the action plan of OIL on the skill development activities.

Earlier, Sandip Goswami, Chief General Manager, Pipeline Services, welcomed the distinguished gathering and Jayanta Barua, Chief Executive Officer, Skill Development Institute Guwahati, spoke about the set-up and performances of SDIG.

A coffee table book on the success stories of the trainees of SDIG, compiled by Pragati Edutech, was released by Union minister Teli along with the distinguished guests.

General manager (Pipeline Administration and Employee Relations) Madhurjya Baruah offered a vote of thanks.
