Security forces in joint operation on Saturday nabbed a ULFA (I) rebel from Bordumsa area of upper Assam’s Tinsukia district.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of the Tinsukia Police, 210 Cobra Battalion, 23 Punjab Battalion Army, 21 Para Security Forces conducted a joint operation and nabbed the hardcore ULFA-I cadre from Bordumsa area along Arunachal Pradesh border.

The cadre has been identified as Girindra Phukan alias Rituraj Asom.

The security forces recovered one AK-81 rifle with two magazines and 60 live rounds of ammunition.

Security forces have launched a massive manhunt to trace about the whereabouts of Gauranga Deb of Shankar tea estate at Talap in Tinsukia district.

Suspected ULFA (I) militants on Friday evening abducted Deb, the head fitter of Shankar Tea Estate.

Police sources said that Deb was abducted by a group of four armed miscreants from the tea estate factory.

There has been no trace of Deb till the time of filling this report.
