Two Zeliangrong United Front militants were killed in a factional fight on Wednesday morning. The incident occurred at a place between Daovan and Khangnang village under Mahur police station in Dima Hasao district. According to police one militant from each faction died in the clash.

A joint team of Assam Police and 43 Assam Rifles reached the spot on Wednesday evening. The village is 55 km from Haflong bordering Manipur and it takes around eight to nine hours on foot to reach there as there is no motorable road.

According to police, clash between the two factions of Zeliangrong United Front erupted on Wednesday morning. One faction was led by its C-in-C and the other by its chairman. Firing between the two factions lasted for about 20-25 minutes that resulted in the death of two militants from each group.

Police and security forces recovered the bullet-ridden bodies of two militants from the spot with the help of the villagers.
