Two youths held with arms at Bokajan along Assam-Nagaland border

With the second phase of Assembly polls coming to an end on Thursday, the Khatkhati police have arrested two youths for possession of an illegal firearm along the Assam-Nagaland interstate border on Friday.

Based on specific information, the police intercepted two youths riding on a two-wheeler in the Sunday Bazaar close to the Nagaland border.

On frisking the youths and checking their scooty, the police recovered one 7.65 pistol with two live ammunition from the vehicle.

Police arrested both the youths and have also seized the two-wheeler in this connection.

The arrested duo have been identified as Nikoto Swo (25) and Arunato Swo (26). Both are residents of New Colony under East Police Station in Dimapur.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the firearm was brought for sale into the area and further investigation is on to ascertain the exact cause for possessing the illegal weapon,” a police officer said.
