Two faculty members from the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) Guwahati have brought laurels to the institute after they found a place in the database compiled by Stanford University that ranks the top 2 percent scientists worldwide based on their research publications.
Dr. Sanjay K. Banerjee, Associate Professor, Dept. of Biotechnology, and Dr. Amit Alexander, Associate Professor, Dept. of Pharmaceutics, have achieved this feat consecutively for the second time, said a statement.
Across the country, 2049 names from various universities and institutes have made it to the list.
The prestigious list of Top 2 per cent of the world scientist was prepared by a team of scientists in the US’ Stanford University, the statement added.
The list has been available publicly in October 2020 for the first time and now the new list has been available publicly on October 19, 2021, it added.
The database has been created of over 100,000 top scientists of the world on the basis of standardized citation indicators such as information on citations, H-index, co-authorship, and a composite indicator.
All of these scientists were classified into 22 scientific fields and 176 sub-fields.
For analyses of the citations and the composite indicators, the SCOPUS database was used.
