At least two minor girls from Meghalaya, who were allegedly kidnapped have been rescued from Assam. 

The two minor girls hailed from East Jaintia Hills district in Meghalaya. 

The girls were rescued from Kalain town in Cachar district of Assam. 

Two persons have also been arrested in connection with the case. 

The Meghalaya police had launched an investigation into the case with the assistance of the Assam police.

The two arrested criminals have been identified as Saydul Islam and Raju. 

Police informed that the duo had befriened the two minor girls and then kidnapped them. 

Meanwhile, the rescued minor girls have been brought back to East Jaintia Hills by the police. 

The girls have been handed over to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) after completion of formalities.
