Wild elephants, early on Thursday morning, trampled two children to death and leaving their mother seriously injured in Assam’s Goalpara district.

Reportedly the incident occurred when a herd of wild elephant barged in to the house of one Kadong Rabha.

Rabha was absent at that time and his Rohila Rabha, daughter Jharna Rabha (12) and son Chiranjit Rabha (2) were present in the house.

Startled by the sudden noise, the family came out of the room when elephants attacked Jharna, and she died on the spot.

“Even though Rohila ran with Chiranjit around her arms, the elephants, however, caught her and thrashed her to the ground and she was seriously injured and killing the two-year-old,” locals informed.

The herd left the area after the incident and entered into a nearby Nicinta forest.

The herd also destroyed two other houses belonging respectively to one Bishnu Rabha and Ananta Rabha.
