Tripura police on Sunday, raided a village in Karimganj district in South Assam and arrested 40 year old Haris Ali of Jolaibasa village under Kadamtala police station in North Tripura. He was arrested on the charge of killing his elder brother Lutfur Rahman.

Fifty-seven year old Lutfur Rahman was gunned down on Sunday morning, over some property dispute. Assam Police officials extended full support to the police team from Tripura to arrest Haris Ali. The pistol used for the crime has also been recovered, police officials said.

According to a report, Haris shot his elder brother Lutfur following a heated debate over the ancestral property. Haris had fired four rounds out of which, one bullet hit the victim’s chest and another hit his belly. Lutfur Rahman succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital.

Original resident of Jolaibasa village under Kadamtala police station in North Tripura, Lutfur Rahman was doing business in Karimganj in South Assam.

Police officials said Haris has admitted the crime and he would be produced in court on Monday. Haris is a businessman based in Nagaland during the last three years.
