Travelling on the national highways of Assam will become dearer now with the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) hiking the rate of toll fees from April 1 this year.

Under the new revised rates, several toll plazas in the Assam will charge higher toll fees.

The toll plazas in Assam that will charge the new revised rates are Madanpur, Mikirati, Hawgaon, Nazirakhat, Raha and Manderdisa toll plazas.

The NHAI has increased the toll tax by Rs 5 for one-way on light vehicles and Rs 15-25 one-way on commercial vehicles.

However, vehicles of the armed forces, fire extinguishers, ambulances, dead bodies, VIP sign vehicles have been exempted from paying the toll fees.

Recipients of the Param Vir Chakra, Mahavir Chakra, Ashok Chakra, Shaurya Chakra, Ashok Chakra will also be exempted from paying the toll charges provided they submit a photo identity proof certified by a competent authority.
