Former Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Pravin Togadia on Saturday said in Guwahati that he would field candidates in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls against BJP.

Togadia, who now heads the Antarrashtriya Hindu Parishad, said his newly floated party Hindustan Nirman Dal (HND) would field candidates against BJP for betraying the people by not fulfilling the promise of building Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

“I had no interest in politics, but situation has forced me to do so. I will field candidates in the 2019 general elections to fulfill the long-pending dream of building a Ram temple at Ayodhya,” the former VHP chief told reporters here.

Coming down heavily on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, Togadia said that the BJP and RSS have no intention of letting the Ram Temple be built.

He alleged that the BJP is raking up the Ram temple issue for political benefits ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

Togadia also lashed out at Prime Minister Modi for betraying the people of Assam by introducing Citizenship (Amendment) Bill.

“Neither any huge development took place in the country, nor the Ram temple was built in the last four years of the BJP government. Under the Narendra Modi regime, the unabated rise in the number of jobless people – especially youth – has reached unprecedented proportions,” he added.

“Modi is my elder brother; earlier, we used to travel on a motorcycle or scooter. I hoped that Modi will help the nation to develop. But, during this regime, nation is suffering in economic crisis,” Togadia added.

The Assam state committee of Hindustan Nirman Dal (HND) was formed with Rajib Kakati as president in the presence of Togadia.
