In a shocking incident, three men in uniform were nabbed in Assam’s capital city Guwahati after they allegedly looted Rs. 20 lakh from a woman.

The cops from Dispur police station in city have arrested two Sub Inspectors—Johm PAthori and Pranjal Bora and Home guard Bipul Hazarika after they looted Rs. 20 lakh from a woman from Mizoram identifying them to be Crime Branch Officers.

“The woman along with a man has brought the cash to Guwahati to exchange it with fake currencies. The trio intercepted the vehicle they were travelling in and decamped identifying them to be Crime Branch Officers,” said a senior police official.

Police have seized the Innova vehicle and interrogating the woman and her accomplice to get more details. Police have also arrested one of the fake currency traffickers and interrogation is on to get more leads, police said.

The three accused are in the custody of Dispur police at present, police said.
