Assam Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi on Friday admitted that the ongoing National Register of Citizens (NRC) update process might have some mistakes.
“The NRC updating process is very huge. There might be problems and in the way a few mistakes can take place…but bad intention should not be there in the process,” said Prof Mukhi after a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah at North Block in New Delhi.

Referring to a case where retired army veteran Mohammad Sanaullah was tagged as illegal foreigner, Prof Mukhi said that it was “his mistake”.
“He has provided different documents on different occasions. But in today’s digital world, everything needs to be accurate and everything should match with other,” asserted Mukhi claiming that there was no mistake on the part of the government.
He said that the present state government in Assam has set example against corruptions.
“This government has taken such rare example by putting the officials of state civil services behind bars…There is zero tolerance against corruption,” said Mukhi.
