Former Vice Chancellor of Assam’s Tezpur University, Prof Pradipeswar Bhattacharyya passed away on Sunday.
He was 63.

Prof Bhattacharyya was the second Vice Chancellor of Tezpur University.
He breathed his last on Sunday morning at Bangalore.
Prof Bhattacharyya served as the Vice Chancellor of the University for five years from June 14, 1999 to June 29, 2004.

Informing about the demise of Prof Bhattacharyya, the University on its Twitter handle stated: “With great sadness, we would like to inform the passing away of Prof Pradipeswar Bhattacharyya, former VC @TezpurUniv.
“He was the 2nd VC of TU (14-06-1999 to 29-06-2004). He breathed his last today at Bangalore. The varsity will forever remember his contribution. RIP,” it added.

A brilliant student and former Cottonian, who studied in Cotton College (now Cotton University), Bhattacharyya was born in 1957.
Tezpur University, which is a Central University, located in Tezpur in Assam’s Sonitpur district, was established by an act of Parliament, in 1994.
Tezpur University is one of the top Universities of the country.
