On the occasion of 10th year of establishment of the Tezpur University Intellectual Property Rights Cell (TUIPR), Silver Jubilee Celebration of the University and World Intellectual Property Day, Tezpur University (TUIPR) in collaboration with the North East Council, Shillong organized an Industry-Academia meet recently, informed Media cell Chairman Dr Rajiv Doley on Monday.

Doley said that the objective of Industry-Academia meet was to bring together top management professionals from industries, academicians, researchers & students of diverse fields together to discuss various dimensions of academia-industry partnership and exchange of ideas, practice and experiences on different aspects of industry-academia integration.

He said  the invited experts from industries like Dr Amitava Pramanik, Director, Strategic Science Group, Hindustan Unilever Ltd,  Sanjay Sikdar, Program Director, IBM India, Dr Anant  Aghase, VP, PRS- Permacel Pvt. Ltd. etc. deliberated upon the latest innovations in their respective sectors.

They also participated in discussions on facilities that are provided for working in collaboration with universities. Focus of their deliberations was concentrated around facilitating pro-industry research in the region.

Experts from government bodies like Indian Patent Office, Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) appraised the gathering about the schemes that are available for supporting such industry-academia collaborations and entrepreneurship.

A special session was held under the aegis of Indian Patent Office for appraising the gathering about one of the lesser talked about IP tool “Integrated Layout and Design” and its benefits. The event was attended by 145 researchers, students and faculty members of Tezpur University and nearby institutions.

An exhibition by the University researchers also showcased the quality of research undertaken in the campus.
