Opposition leader of Assam Debabrata Saikia on Saturday asked media to question PM Narenda Modi about his educational qualification first before questioning the candidates of the panchayat elections.

“Before questioning the candidates to test their merits, media should question the Indian PM about his qualification. We all know that the PM had forged his educational documents,” Saikia said.

Moreover, lashing out at Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma over his statement that Congress and ULFA (I) have same characteristics, Saikia questioned, “How dare he (Sarma) compares Congress with ULFA (I) saying that both follow dynasty politics?”

Saikia claimed, “Congress always respects unanimous decision of the party workers. It is not dynasty politics.”

Speaking about the ‘deteriorated’ law and order situation in the state, Saikia said, “The saffron party has been working with vested interests. It does not bother for the interest of the indigenous people of the state.”

“The BJP has ruined the panchayati raj system in the state. It did not release the funds to the panchayats. We have not observed any development in the panchayats of the state. People are still using partly damaged bamboo bridges in village areas. In many parts of the state ambulances cannot move due to the poor road condition,” Saikia said.

Saikia also slammed BJP for its failure to curb corruption.

“Congress had taken strict action against corruption related cases during its rule. But the BJP’s much hyped gimmick of zero tolerance against corruption has failed. The party has failed to fulfill its promise to make the nation corruption-free,” Saikia added.

Moreover, Saikia said the people of the state would give mandate in the panchayat election against the misrule of BJP.

“BJP will come to know in the panchayat elections that people are not fool. They observe, analyse and choose,” Saikia said.
