Ten workers walked from Bhutan to reach home in Assam

Ten workers from Assam who were working in Bhutan travelled on foot and arrived in the state on Sunday.

As per reports, the workers, who were employed in Bhutan’s southeast rural town Bhangtar, reached Kauli area in Baksa district on Sunday evening.

All the workers had started their journey at 4 am on Sunday.

After their arrival, they had been kept at Tarungaon Primary School in Kauli.

Some health workers also went to the school to examine the health condition of the workers.

Five of the workers are residents of Kauli whereas the other five hails from Sonitpur.

The workers who belong to Sonitpur include Ram Dayal Paik, Rupesh Orang, Papulu Bhumij, Khudang Munda and Amzan Khan.

The workers hailing from Kauli are Maheswar Biswas, Hiro Baishya, Akhil Biswas, Uday Baishya and Prabhat Bakshi.

Meanwhile, Tamulpur police station’s in-charge Ashim Bora and Kumarikata police outpost’s in-charge Nipon Bora also went to the spot to take stock of the situation.

Amid lockdown in view of the COVID19 pandemic, a man from Assam had also recently travelled about 2,800 km from Gujarat to reach Assam.

The man Jadav Gogoi, who worked at Vapi in Gujarat, decided to start his journey on foot from Vapi on March 27.

He reached his home in Raha after walking for 25 days.
