The much neglected Assam-Meghalaya border in West Karbi Anglong was visited by MLA Dr. Mansing Rongpi, the Executive Members of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Rupsing Teron and Prodip Rongpi, Deputy Commissioner Debojyoti Hazarika and Superintendent of Police Mrinal Talukdar.

A border outpost and bungalow construction is going on in Umru Khuti of West Karbi Anglong, 60 km from here.

Dr. Mansing Rongpi and his team inspected the construction and expressed satisfaction with the work. They also talked to the Assam policemen guarding the under-construction outpost to know about the work condition.

People on the side of Assam in West Karbi Anglong along the Assam-Meghalaya border have been demanding development and security for a long time. The area is often troubled by communal tension primarily arising out of incursion by miscreants into Assam side and use to damage public buildings, Assam Government signboards and threaten the local population.

In border areas of Sabuda, Umru-2 and others, the people remain insecure due to the trouble at the interstate border.

The MLA expressed hope that the outpost would solve the insecurity problem of the locals.

The Meghalaya Government often used to step in into the area to build infrastructure like roads, bridges and provide power and where there is no electricity they provided the villagers with solar lights.
