Tangla gears up to celebrate Rongali Bihu with traditional fervour

Three-day programme begins on first day of Assamese month of Bohag with several competitions lined up

Brisk preparations are on to celebrate Rongali Bihu in a befitting manner at Tangla in Udalguri district of Assam.

The three-day Rongali Bihu celebration starting on the first day of Assamese month of Bohag is being organized under the aegis of Sadou Tangla Rongali Bihu Sanmilani.

As per the programme schedule, flag hoisting will be done on the first day followed by tribute to the martyrs apart from organizing drawing and sports competitions among children.

The mouthpiece ‘Keteki‘ will also be released on the first day along with felicitation of noted citizens and meritorious students.

The second day will witness a cultural rally, bihu dance competitions and ‘husori’ competition in various age groups followed by a cultural show in the evening.

On the third and final day, a state-level marathon race is beig scheduled followed by a cultural night in the evening which will be inaugurated by Joint Secretary, Home and Political Department of Assam, Naren Ch Basumatari.

The main attraction of the cultural night will be Pranamika Goswami who will be accompanied by Phukan Boro and Elisha Boro.

Noted comedian Bapan Sarma will also present a show during the cultural night.
