Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Sunday took charge as the president of Assam Olympic Association (AOA) for a period of four years.
Sonowal was recently elected for the post unopposed.

“I am elated and honoured to be elected as the AOA president,” Sonowal said while speaking at a meeting in Guwahati on Sunday evening.
“Every office bearer of the association will have to work for transforming Assam into a hub of sports in the country,” Sonowal said.
Along with Sonowal, 68-member committee of AOA also took charge.

“Sports has to be made even more popular so that youth living in the remotest part of the state get motivated and take it as an integral and inseparable aspect of their lives,” Sonowal said.
