Small tea growers of Assam observe Gandhi Jayanti in befitting manner

Along with the rest of Assam and the country, the small tea growers of the State also observed 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on Tuesday with a day-long programme.

The small tea growers of Jirsong Small Tea Growers Society  at Deithor of Karbi Anglong district of the State organized a drawing competition among school children to commemorate the occasion.

Around 48 students participated in the drawing competition which was held on the theme of Swatch Bharat Abhiyan by small tea growers of Jirsong Small Tea Growers Society, Deithor of Karbi Anglong.

Dr Debojit Bora, DO, Tea Board of India, Golaghat; Jaman Ahmed, assistant manager of Lattakoojan tea estate near Golaghat and Yakub Ahmed, a prominent art teacher were the judges for the art competition.

The winner of the art competition was Klinso Hansepi.

This was the first of its kind celebration of Gandhi Jayanti with the theme of Swatchta Hi Seva among the small tea growers of the Karbi Anglong district.
