Police from Basistha police station rushed to the spot and rescued the body part of the woman.

Suspecting it to be a case of murder, police have launched a search operation in adjoining areas.

According to the police, only after the post-mortem examination, the body part could be identified–either male or female.

However, the legs can be considered as part of a woman’s body, said a police official.

The official said that someone appeared to have tried to dispose of the body after cutting it into pieces two-three days back.

The limbs have been sent for postmortem examination to Guwahati Medical College Hospital (GMCH).
