The seventh Bodoland Wushu Championship is getting under way from January 8 with a three-day affair at Gossaigaon Nehru Stadium in Kokrajhar of Assam’s BTAD.  The three-day long colourful programme will conclude on January 10. The championship has been organized by Bodoland Wushu Association.

Addressing a press conference held at Kokrajhar Press Club on Friday, Jubiraj Basumatary, president of the Bodoland Wushu Association said the massive preparations are going in full swing to host the 7th Bodoland Wushu Championship at Gossaigaon Nehru Stadium in Kokrajhar district.

He said that a total of 400 Wushu players from four districts of BTAD namely Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa and Udalguri and also Sonitpur and Goalpara districts are participating as invitee districts.

Basumatary said the championship will be organized in three categories – junior, sub junior and senior. Winners in the championship will be forwarded to the national championship.

A reception committee has also been formed with Sabharam Basumatary, ex-BTC executive member as president and Rahindra Brahma as secretary for smooth functioning of the championship.

He also appealed to all sections of citizens to cooperate in the championship to make it a grand success.
