Lakhimpur College of Veterinary Science, Joyhing and JBF (Just Be Friendly), a social sector organization working for welfare of animals will jointly organize a seven-day programme from September 22 on the occasion of Golden Jubilee Anniversary of  Assam Agricultural University and World Rabies Day on September 28.

Assam Agricultural University Vice chancellor Dr Kamal Malla Bujarbaruah will inaugurate the programme on September 22.

As a part of the programme, awareness camps regarding the control and prevention of deadly disease rabies will be held in nearby government, non-government schools of Lakhimpur College of Veterinary Science and among the general people as well. Also free vaccination will be provided to the street dogs, domestic dogs and cats and sterilization camp for dogs will be organized.

On the last day on September 28, a discussion session will be held where some resource persons will deliver speeches on the issue of deadly disease rabies and how to control and prevent it.  Speakers included Dr S A Laskar and Dr Umesh Fangsopi from National Health Mission, Dr Jyoti B Dutta and Dr Saini George from Lakhimpur College of Veterinary Science, and Managing Trustee of JBF Dr Sashanka Sekhar Dutta.
