Sensation prevailed in Margherita’s Number 1 Makum Pathar area on Saturday night after local residents and employees of Kitply Industries seized two trailer trucks at National Highway 38.

The two seized vehicles were allegedly transporting heavy machinery of the industry secretly to Kolkata from its factory in Margherita.

Margherita police reached the spot and brought the situation under control, however, till the filing of this report the police had not taken custody of the two vehicles.

The Kitply Industries was shut down in 2012 and it is yet to pay the salaries of its employees for many years.

The company, moreover, has unpaid loans of several crores and a case against it is still pending at the court.

“Without court clearance how can the company shift its machinery secretly?” the agitated employees asked.

“We will not allow the machinery to move out until our pending dues are cleared,” informed the members of the workers union of the industry.

The seized trailer trucks bear registration numbers AS-25-GA-1506 and RJ-09-GA-4174.
