As the 2021 Assam Assembly election draws closer, speculations have been running high as to who is going to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s Chief Ministerial candidate.

Even though it is almost a certainty that Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal is going to be the prime and the “only” candidate for the CM’s post, however, some political experts feel that health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma may also put up his candidature for the post.

In fact, recently minister of state (health) Pijush Hazarika said that Himanta Biswa Sarma is efficient enough to become the CM of the state.

In the light of several such debates, Mangaldai BJP MP Dilip Saikia on Sunday said that CM Sarbananda Sonowal is going to BJP’s Chief Ministerial candidate for the ensuing polls and that there isn’t going to be any change in that.

“CM Sonowal is our chief ministerial candidate for 2021 and currently we are focussed in working as a team,” Saikia said.
