Guwahati: Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Sandeep Kumar has been appointed the new Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) and Head of Forest Force (HoFF).

Kumar’s appointment follows the retirement of Rajpal Singh, who held the position until Thursday, October 31, 2024.

A 1989 batch IFS officer, Kumar previously held the position of PCCF (Wildlife) and Chief Wildlife Warden (CWLW) of Assam. In his new role, he will oversee the state’s vast forest resources and wildlife conservation efforts.

The official order announcing Kumar’s promotion states, “In the interest of public service, Sandeep Kumar is hereby promoted to the Apex Scale of the Indian Forest Service and posted as PCCF & HoFF, Assam, effective from the date of taking over charge.”

Kumar formally assumed the charge of PCCF & HoFF during a ceremony held at Aranya Bhawan in Guwahati on Thursday.
