Karbi Anglong Zila Sahitya Sabha and Diphu Sahitya Sabha along with 18 literary and social organizations felicitated former Asom Sabhitya Sabha (ASS) president Padmashree Rongbong Terang on his being conferred with Lummer Dai Award 2019 by ASS.
The award is conferred on a person in the field of literature every two years.
Sabha sources said the award will be given on the occasion of the 80th birth anniversary of the litterateur at Lummer Dai Bhawan, Tezpur on June 1.
On being felicitated, Terang said, “Everyone knows who Lummer Dai is. He is from Arunachal Pradesh belonging to one of the tribes in the state of Arunachal Pradesh. Though he is not from Assam, but can speak and write fluently in Assamese.”
“All his books are written in Assamese. It is a person like Lummer Dai who has created a bridge between the people of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh,” Terang added.
It is said literature has no boundary and Lummer Dai exactly proves that.
“Through his writings, he has created love and brotherhood between the people of the two states. In his memory, the ASS has constituted an award which is conferred on a person in the field of literature,” said Terang.
The convenor of Mother Language and State Langauge, ASS, Deben Kakoti and Karbi Anglong Zila Sahitya Sabha secretary Atul Boruah and members of Karbi Writer’s Club, Bengali Sahitya Kala Sanskriti, Sadou Diphu Namghar Homanoi Samiti, Diphu Kendriya Bihu Samiti, Homonoi Ghosti, Diphu; Hongkari Kristi Vikas Samiti, Manja Anchalik Bihu Samiti and Diphu Basic School Bihu Anchalik Samiti felicitated Padmashree Terang.
