The self-proclaimed ‘nationalist’ news channel in India – Republic TV – seems to be supporting the brutal Taliban regime in Afghanistan.

Republic TV and its editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami’s support for the Taliban seems to have got exposed after it created a hashtag in Twitter – #RepublicWithTaliban.

After facing backlash in the social media, the channel deleted the tweet from its twitter handle, but not before netizens grabbed screenshots of the tweet.

Netizens, meanwhile, have started demanding arrest of Arnab Goswami and the staff of Republic TV for “supporting the Taliban”, as #RepublicWithTaliban continues to trended on Twitter.

The demands for arrest of Arnab Goswami comes after Assam police, on Saturday, had arrested 14 people for alleged pro-Taliban posts on social networking site Facebook.

The 14 people have been charged under the anti-terror law – Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).

They have also been charged under various IPC sections for criminal conspiracy and hurting religious feelings.
