A media report on Wednesday over senior Congress leader and Nagaon Lok Sabha MP Pradyut Bordoloi joining the BJP went viral on social media.

But Bobbeeta Sharma, the chairperson of the media department of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC), termed the news as “not true” and “completely baseless”.

Assam Congress leader Sharma said during her conversation with Pradyut Bordoloi regarding the news report, the MP had told that the news was “baseless”.

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday night met all the MPs from the state, including Pradyut Bordoloi as a courtesy.

Himanta Biswa Sarma hosted a dinner for the MPs at the Assam Bhawan in Delhi.

Assam MPs, cutting across party lines, were invited to the dinner.

Sarma uploaded the photographs, clicked with the MPs, on the social media platforms.

In those photographs, chief minister Sarma is also seen with other MPs like Kaliabor MP Gaurav Gogoi, Rajya Sabha MPs Ripun Bora and Ajit Bhuyan.

In a photograph, Bordoloi is seen presenting a bouquet of flowers to chief minister Sarma.

Some of the media highlighted Bordoloi’s picture with chief minister Sarma as an indication of his joining the BJP.

Bobbeeta Sharma said as Bordoloi met Himanta Biswa Sarma for the first time after he took charge as the chief minister of the state, he presented a bouquet of flowers as a courtesy.
